Exciting times for Ubettabelieveit team as owners get Breeders' Cup go-ahead
The owners of Ubettabelieveit will make the trip to the Breeders' Cup next week to watch their star juvenile after it was announced owners and breeders will be permitted to attend both days of the prestigious meeting.
Martin Webb and his wife Lisa, who own the two-year-old as part of Martin Webb Racing, will be allowed into Keeneland to see the Flying Childers winner take up his entry in the Juvenile Turf Sprint. It follows the same rules the track took up when allowing owners and breeders to attend the recent fall meeting, subject to Covid-19 protocols.
While spectators still cannot attend the meeting, it is a welcome boost for international racing following the announcement owners will be barred from attending all of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Ubettabelieveit, who caused a 40-1 shock when landing the Group 2 Flying Childers at Doncaster's St Leger meeting last month, will be the owners and North Yorkshire trainer Nigel Tinkler's first runner at the Breeders' Cup.
"The owners are going out there and we're delighted about that," Tinkler said. "I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also apprehensive about it because of the travelling and we don't know whether he'll handle the track or not. Mainly, we're looking forward to it big time.
"We're throwing the dice a little bit, but he's very well. We gave him a little bit of a break after Doncaster, but he's still got his summer coat and is working very well at home."
Archie Watson's Group 3 winner Mighty Gurkha and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Lipizzaner could join Ubettabelieveit in the Juvenile Turf Sprint, while the Wesley Ward-trained Prix Morny winner Campanelle also features among the possibles for the 5½f contest.
