Definitly Red to put Gold Cup claims on the line at Kelso on Thursday

Definitly Red, generally a 33-1 shot for the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup, will have his final warm-up for the festival showpiece at Kelso on Thursday as the action warms up after the equine flu shutdown.

The Phil Martin-owned ten-year-old, who is unbeaten in two Grade 2 events this season, including the Charlie Hall Chase, takes on a single rival in the Malcolm Jefferson Memorial Chase, one of two feature events on the card.

Definitly Red, who finished sixth behind Native River in last year's Gold Cup, has pleased his trainer Brian Ellison in the build-up to Kelso.

"He's well in and it should put him spot on for the Gold Cup. It's not a hard track and it'll be nice ground. Hopefully he goes there and wins and everything goes all right."

The £30,000 Timeform Morebattle Hurdle has attracted four runners, including Nicky Henderson's We Have A Dream.
