Chester chief executive Richard Thomas has been dismissed by the racecourse after being found to have misused company resources for a personal project.
The news comes following speculation about Thomas's future after he was absent from the course for its prestigious May meeting two weeks ago.
Ian O'Doherty, chairman of the Chester Race Company (CRC), said the decision had followed an internal investigation.
