Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) | 2m½f | 4yo+ | ITV/RTV

What happened?

Constitution Hill provided Nicky Henderson with his fifth success in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle as Britain got off to a winning start. A race that had pace throughout, Dysart Dynamo took the early lead for trainer Willie Mullins. However, his bid at landing the opening race came to an end when falling three from home. That left the Henderson duo of Constitution Hill and Jonbon to bolt up the Cheltenham hill, but it was the former who took all the glory in a breath-taking performance.

3. Kilcruit
4. Bring On The Night

Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase (Grade 1) | 2m | 5yo+ | ITV/RTV

What happened?

Alan King ended a run of seven years without a Cheltenham Festival winner as Edwardstone justified favouritism to score in the Arkle. Magic Daze set the early pace, before Brave Seasca fell for Venetia Williams and that resulted in Saint Sam coming down too. However, Edwardstone took the lead two-out to extend his unbeaten run to five and hand Tom Cannon a first Festival winner.

Approaching the penultimate hurdle, the eight-year-old found space between Appreciate It and Zanahiyr to move clear. Epatante provided a late challenge, but the Honeysuckle extended her unbeaten run to 15 and received a tremendous reception back in the winner's enclosure.
