ICE is so cool! My customers will love the Post's impressive touch screen

I've been working in the betting industry for more than 17 years and during that time I've seen many changes. No doubt this will definitely continue because having witnessed today, the first day (of three) at ICE, you get a tantalising glimpse of what is to come. There is such a vast array of products and inspiring ideas.

My first stop was the Racing Post Spotlight Cafe. Here was the Racing Post Display in its digital form.

This is a touch screen providing all the latest: horse racing, greyhounds, even virtual. With easy navigation, you can find the latest form, tips, results etc.

It's impressive, and my customers, young and not so young, would love it. It's practical also: our smaller betting shops would not have to worry about paper space.

I was also shown their digital sports screen, which, for example, shows you the next main football match and provides updates on team structure/news, who is playing and who is out injured.

There are also live betting trends, even a suggested acca with possible winnings, and all this will work in unison with the SSBT. For me, it would be a football fans’ ‘must have’. I have no doubt it would be a great success in store.

At the SIS stand, I continued to be further inspired, through their Live Tournament Stand. These tournaments are being streamed live from Las Vegas – it is indeed a small world!

My personal favourite, however, was the horseracing ‘Live Betting’ offer. Envisage Grand National Day, imagine the favourite falls at the first fence, then the customer has the opportunity to place a live bet. It’s all about getting and using the latest information.

ICE is so vast and impressive. If you are coming on Wednesday or Thursday, do your research, try to focus in for what interests you. It’s such an expansive hub of gambling-related elements, the certainty is that it WILL get you thinking.

I will be back . . . 10am sharp on Wednesday morning.
