Britbet boss offers positive Placepot data amid criticism of processing time
The team behind the new-look Tote have responded to racegoer criticism over the amount of time it now takes to place bets such as the Placepot and Jackpot.
Late last month it was announced the Tote consortium, made up of Betfred and their Alizeti partners, and one-time rival Britbet had signed a £50 million agreement that prevented having two competing totes diluting liquidity following the opening up of the pool betting market in July.
Racegoers at Cheltenham this weekend have been punting with the remodelled Tote, but those investing in bets covering more than one race have had to write down meeting names and the numbers of chosen horses, while Tote employees have had to manually insert information that was previously scanned in seconds. A Placepot perm put on by a Racing Post writer took 50 seconds to process.
