There was a strange symmetry to the return of racing after an absence of nearly four years as two of the senior trainers used the new beginnings to reprise their first winners.

Step forward champion trainer Paul Nicholls and Nigel Twiston-Davies, and for those of a certain age look away now for it is 25 years and 34 years respectively that span the two events together with more than 4,000 winners between them.
