Classic-winning trainer Ralph Beckett has elaborated on a plan he believes will force riders in Britain to think again before they breach whip rules, helping to radically reduce the number of whip-related bans.

After widespread criticism of Christophe Soumillon's use of the whip on Thunder Snow at the Breeders' Cup this month and following six jockeys in the Melbourne Cup being sanctioned for whip offences, the whip in racing has been making headlines across the globe, including in SouthAfrica where a trial of whip-free races has already begun.

Responding to those headlines, Beckett took to his website this week to outline his plan to counter whip breaches in Britain, whereby jockeys breaking the rules would be punished by missing the biggest meetings in the calendar.
