Andre Fabre: 'Soft ground brings out the strength and courage in the winners'

German trainer Marcel Weiss, who enjoyed his biggest success with shock Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Torquator Tasso, and Andre Fabre have questioned the merits of moving the race to an earlier date in the calendar.

Speaking exclusively to the Racing Post on Tuesday, France Galop chief executive Olivier Delloye voiced an openness to potentially moving the Arc forward to reduce the risk of heavy ground in Paris.

However, Delloye has since said that an analysis of the last 15 years showed that running the Arc during the last weekend of September would not have led to more good ground at Longchamp.
