Paul Nicholls has made no secret of his desire to prioritise another big showing at Aintree's Randox Grand National festival this year and, as a statement of intent, the 12-time champion trainer has some big names in action on Thursday's opening card.

Clan Des Obeaux, Pic D'Orhy and Monmiral are just three of the stars Nicholls has confirmed on day one, while Bravemansgame is set to face Ahoy Senor and L'Homme Presse in a mouthwatering Betway Mildmay Novices' Chase on Friday.

Nicholls leads Nicky Henderson by around £142,000 in the race to be champion trainer, with Dan Skelton almost £300,000 adrift of his former boss.
