The upcoming Goffs UK January Sale at Doncaster will offer a £100,000 windfall to connections of the first horse that is sold during the inaugural bonus section of the auction and subsequently wins any race at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023 or 2024.

This new section of the sale, which takes place between January 24 and 25, will feature point-to-point and bumper horses which are deemed as eligible for the bonus by Goffs UK.

It will be split with £50,000 paid to the vendor, £25,000 to the trainer and £25,000 to the owner or owners.

The January Sale has produced numerous festival winners, the most recent being Vanillier, who won a point-to-point at Dromahane before being sold at the 2020 January Sale and taking the following year's Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.

Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said: We are always looking for new ways to add value and attraction to our sales and this new initiative certainly is an exciting prospect as it gives everyone involved in the sale of a pointer or bumper horse the opportunity to earn a significant cash bonus to go along with the thrill of having bought, sold, or owned a winner at the Cheltenham Festival.

“The feat has been achieved recently through the deeds of Vanillier so hopefully we can cheer home another winner in the coming two years and see the lucky connections take home their share of the £100,000 bonus.”

All horses eligible for the £100,000 Doncaster January Sale PTP Bonus will be marked on their pedigree pages. The main catalogue will be released early next week with point-to-point entries to be published online in the build-up to the sale.
