Sire of the year
It would have been a pity if Dubawi had never been crowned champion sire in Britain and Ireland, as one of the best stallions of the modern era but for so long in the shadow of the great Galileo, and so it was pleasing to see him take his first title at the age of 20 this year.
The Dalham Hall Stud stalwart – who also receives our accolade as sire of the year – was on the mark in 2022 with ill-fated 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes victor Coroebus, St Leger hero Eldar Eldarov and Platinum Jubilee Stakes winner Naval Crown.
