Preview and best bets for the WTA tennis tournaments in Hua Hin (Thailand) and St Petersburg.

WTA Thailand Open

When to watch

Starts 8am Monday

Best bet

Qiang Wang to win Thailand Open
1pt 5-1 Power

Tournament preview

Qiang Wang hit the headlines with her third-round victory over Serena Williams at the Australian Open and she could go all the way at this week's Thailand Open where she is seeded third.

World number four Elina Svitolina is the only top-ten ranked player in the field but her status as tournament favourite looks questionable.

Svitolina was well below her best at the Australian Open, losing 6-1 6-2 in her third-round clash with Garbine Muguruza.

Second seed Petra Martic was another to disappoint in Melbourne, going out in the second round, so it may pay to side with Wang, who looks a contender to pick up her first title since victories in Nanchang and Guangzhou in 2018.

WTA St Petersburg Open

When to bet

Starts midday Monday

Best bet

Petra Kvitova to win St Petersburg Open
1pt 3-1 bet365

Tournament preview

Petra Kvitova lifted the St Petersburg Ladies Trophy in 2018 and is playing well enough to regain the title.

The big-serving Czech impressed with her run to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, where she lost 7-6 6-2 to top seed Ashleigh Barty.

And she looks a strong contender in St Petersburg, where second seed Kiki Bertens – a potential semi-final opponent – could be her main rival.

Swiss number one Belinda Bencic is the top seed but has a bit to prove after she exited the Australian Open at the third-round stage with a 6-0 6-1 loss to Anett Kontaveit.

Bencic is far from certain to get her own way in the top half of the draw which features Maria Sakkari – fresh from her run to the fourth round in Melbourne – and 2015 St Petersburg champion Jelena Ostapenko.
