The Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart has attracted a stellar field and spectators have been given an early treat with Garbine Muguruza locking horns with Viktoria Azarenka in the opening round.

Muguruza was a set and break to the good when Azarenka was forced to retire in their title decider in Monterrey earlier this month and she can confirm that form in Stuttgart.

The Spaniard has since suffered two deciding-set defeats in the Fed Cup against Belgian duo Ysaline Bonaventure and Kirsten Flipkens but both games were on an indoor hard court and she is much happier on clay.

Muguruza, a former French Open winner and semi-finalist at Roland Garros last season, should prove too strong for Azarenka, who is probably at her most vulnerable on the slower surface.
