Day three
WTA: BT Sport 1, 4pm Wednesday
ATP: Amazon Prime, 5pm Wednesday

Stan Wawrinka has two close wins to his name over Karen Khachanov, but the Swiss is getting fitter all the time after career-threatening injury issues and he could be in a good position to extend his personal series lead to 3-0 over the Russian in the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Wawrinka and Khachanov have contested four sets in the last two years. Stanimal has won all four, but three of them went to tiebreaks and the other was 6-4.

It may not be long before Khachanov is up to defeating Wawrinka, who is no spring chicken at 34. But even though the Muscovite is the reigning Paris Masters champion, he is still rather inexperienced himself when it comes to matchplay and with his opponent on an upward curve, Khachanov may have to bide his time even further before upending the three-time major champion.

Wawrinka has already come in for the lion's share of pre-match punting support and the market move could be proved correct in this instance.

In the women's singles in Toronto, Belinda Bencic should have too much for Julia Goerges, but she is a short-priced favourite and punters may want to consider backing the Swiss to triumph either in straight sets or conceding a games-handicap start to her German opponent.

Recommendation
S Wawrinka
1pt 8-11 general
