Sloane Stephens looks ready to take home glory in Miami final

There's a cracking Miami Open final in prospect between US Open champion Sloane Stephens and French Open heroine Jelena Ostapenko and something has got to give when these fine players clash.

Stephens has been mostly all at sea since winning at Flushing Meadows in September, but conveniently she has turned on the style in Miami, just down the road from Plantation where she was born.

Odds of 66-1, which were generally available about Stephens before the tournament started, have been shown to be wildly inaccurate as the 13th seed has seen off Garbine Muguruza, Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka in fine style.

The threat of Ostapenko is not taken lightly. One of the most naturally powerful performers on the WTA Tour, she has stepped things up nicely to defeat Petra Kvitova, Elina Svitolina and impressive qualifier Danielle Collins, but the Latvian has not demolished her rivals in the way that Stephens has done on occasions on Key Biscayne.

Anyone finding the pair difficult to separate can consider backing the clash to last for three sets or over 21 or 21.5 games.

However, Stephens was a fine US Open champion and now that she is bidding to land the biggest tournament in her home state in the last year it will be contested at Crandon Park, there's a case for thinking she should be priced shorter to lift the trophy.
