There's a fresh look to the semi-finals of the ATP Shanghai Masters in China with Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini vying for the title after Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer were both dumped out in the quarter-finals.

Medvedev, who found only Rafael Nadal too good in the US Open last month, is the oddsmakers' unanimous favourite to kick on and show he is ready to assume dominance when Djokovic, Nadal and Federer's powers wane.

The Russian will meet Tsitsipas, a 3-6 7-5 6-3 victor over Djokovic in Shanghai, for a place in the final. In the other semi Zverev, who ousted Federer 6-3 6-7 6-3 in the last eight, will face Berrettini.

Zverev should hold sway but Berrettini, who defeated Dominic Thiem 7-6 6-4 to progress, has been outplayed only by Nadal in their US Open semi-final in recent months, so he could be a dangerous opponent for the lanky German.

Tsitsipas is playing better again after a quiet period, but Medvedev looks the complete package and the bookmakers may be right to place such faith in him.

The Greek is no stranger to tiebreak sets, but the best play could still be to back Medvedev to successfully concede Tsitsipas a handicap start of 2.5 games.
