Resurgent Bencic playing well enough to block Russian

Diatchenko likely to have her work cut out by Swiss ace

Next Gen ATP Finals
Sky Arena, 6pm Friday

There is not a lot of choice in Friday's WTA quarter-final clashes so anyone desperate for a bet may be wise to keep faith with a star player in Hua Hin.

Belinda Bencic has returned from injury in positive vein and the Swiss youngster can be chanced giving up a start of four and a half games against Vitalia Diatchenko.

Not that Diatchenko is without a chance. Far from it. But the Russian tends to peak far too infrequently, while it's a surprise when Bencic underperforms.

And given that Bencic has looked in good nick in Linz and in Thailand, anyone who has backed her outright at prices up to 7-1 – she was 8-1 with win-only layers – is entitled to be confident about the next few days.

Ana Bogdan is unlikely to have everything her way against improving Ying-Ying Duan, who has played well this year.

The semi-finals of the Next Gen ATP Finals were due to be confirmed late on Thursday night in Milan and bookmakers will have prices on the event on Friday morning.

Recommendation
B Bencic -4.5 games
1pt 8-11 Hills, Sky Bet
