There was punter confidence behind Audrey Albie for her Limoges Open first-round clash after bold efforts in qualifying, but while she looks a promising sort for the future a main-draw opener against Veronika Kudermetova could be tough.

Kudermetova, 21, made a big impression when reaching the Den Bosch quarter-finals in June. While she has been a little quiet since, the statistics from Holland suggested she could go far on the WTA Tour.

Albie, 24, has been trimmed to defeat the Russian after qualifying wins over Salma Djoubri and Silvia Soler-Espinosa, but the fact she is playing not far north of the town of her birth may not save her against a talented opponent.

It looks a choice between backing Kudermetova, who beat Albie 6-1 6-2 on clay in Marseille last year, to win in straight sets or supporting the favourite to give up a start of 4.5 games. The handicap could be punishing, however.

Recommendation
A Kudermetova to win 2-0
