Naomi Osaka has been cut to 150-1 from a whopping 250-1 for the WTA Rogers Cup but the Japanese qualifier could extend her run in Toronto with a victory over Anastasija Sevastova.

Osaka made light work of fellow qualifier heather Watson in the first round of the main draw when seeing off the Briton 6-1 4-1 – Watson retired in set two when the writing was well and truly on the wall.

It may pay not to go overboard about the form as Watson's game has gone AWOL again after a reasonable grass season, but Osaka remains a big-tournament winner waiting to happen and faith can be placed in the USA resident against Sevastova.

Latvian number two Sevastova is enjoying a good campaign and picked up the second WTA Tour title of her career when victorious in Majorca in June.

She is decent on any terrain but may still have to give second best to Osaka, whose star looks sure to shine even brighter in future.

In Montreal, Ryan Harrison could see support at 8-11 to win at least a set against Roberto Bautista Agut.
