Tournament preview

Roger Federer will miss this year's Laver Cup due to injury but bookmakers remain confident Team Europe can once again get the better of Team World in only the fourth edition of the event.

Europe have won all three previous Laver Cups in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and are 2-7 to come out on top in Boston.

That's unsurprising given that all six of Team Europe's players are in the top ten of the ATP rankings with recent US Open champion Daniil Medvedev leading the charge.

He is joined by Russian compatriot Andrey Rublev as well as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Matteo Berrettini and Casper Ruud in a strong side.

Team World, meanwhile, are made up of Canadian duo Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov as well as home talents John Isner and Reilly Opelka, Australian Nick Kyrgios and Argentinian Diego Schwartzman.

Players earn a point per match win on day one of the tournament, two points per win on day two and three points per win on day three.

And the best punting approach could be to bet on the top tournament pointscorer market, which is headed by Medvedev.

Odds of 11-4 about the Muscovite could represent value given that he has been in inspired form this year and recently secured his first Grand Slam tournament trophy.

He also made the last four of the recent Cincinnati Masters and impressed in another team tournament - the ATP Cup - at the start of the year.

On that occasion Medvedev was representing his home nation Russia and won his clash with Italy's Berrettini in the final to give his country the trophy.

Team Europe once again look a cut above their World counterparts and Medvedev can play a key role in their victory.
