Garbine Muguruza is 2-1 favourite to win the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai after saving match points on the way to defeating Anastasija Sevastova 6-7 6-2 7-6 in the final day of group action.

The Spaniard, who was 8-1 before the year-ending championship for the second tier of the WTA stars began, has rediscovered some form in the twilight of the campaign.

Muguruza is 6-11 to beat Madison Keys, the 4-1 outsider-of-four for the title, in their semi-final clash, while in the first of the last-four singles matches at 8.30am Julia Goerges is edging market leadership against Ashleigh Barty.

Goerges, who is putting up a stout defence of her Zhuhai title, is 11-4 second favourite to keep hold of the trophy with Barty a 10-3 shot.

Dominic Thiem will play Karen Khachanov for a place in the final of the Paris Masters after Thiem ended the run of 150-1 defending champion Jack Sock and Khachanov hammered Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-2.

In Mumbai, Margarita Gasparyan is 8-11 to reach the final with victory over Luksika Kumkhum.
