Rafael Nadal is taking it to his opponents on clay yet again and the Monte Carlo Masters title favourite is difficult to oppose in his quarter-final clash with Guido Pella.

Not that Pella is a hopeless case on the slow red courts - he most certainly is not. But Monaco is Nadal's royal court and the start he has made in his bid for a 12th singles crown at the Country Club has been impressive.

Grigor Dimitrov won four games in the first set in his 6-4 6-1 third-round loss to Nadal. But while the Bulgarian gets pumped up from time to time, Pella, while genuinely talented on slow and fast terrain, is a regular underachiever.

The 28-year-old Argentinian, who ousted Marco Cecchinato 6-4 4-6 6-4 in the last 16, is capable of taking Nadal to long sets. But the likelihood is that he won't, so the bet looks to be to get with Nadal on the handicap.

Recommendation
R Nadal -6.5 games
