Day two preview

Rafael Nadal is the big draw in Monday's ATP Finals action, but with doubts surrounding the wellbeing of the Spanish top seed it may be wiser for bettors to concentrate on the afternoon's fare.

Daniil Medvedev, the player who has arguably more than anyone has shown himself capable of eating into the dominance of tennis's big three of Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, opens his title tilt in London with a clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Greek ace has done enough indoors at a tender age to merit serious respect from oddsmakers and punters alike, but Medvedev's rise to superstardom has been something else.

He gave Nadal all sorts of trouble before a fifth-set capitulation in the final of the US Open in September, and that debut major final was sandwiched between Masters Series triumphs in Cincinnati and Shanghai.

Medvedev's game has few weaknesses and there looks little reason why he should not outclass his opponent on his O2 Arena debut.

Nadal looks an uneasy favourite against defending champion Alexander Zverev, although the Majorcan's final practice session reportedly went okay.
