Alex de Minaur has enjoyed a fine campaign with three title triumphs but it has also seen him develop a bit of a wins-when-he-wants reputation which can be problematic for punters.

In the quarter-finals of the Swiss Indoors the Australian meets Jan-Lennard Struff in Basel.

It's a winnable match for De Minaur, but Struff has been overdue a main-tour title triumph for nearly two seasons now and that also makes for some potentially tricky picks for backers.

De Minaur is a long way from being physically the strongest of performers and deserves huge credit for winning as often as he does.

With that in mind, winning indoors can often be an even greater test. But De Minaur is such a special talent that he may still have enough to defeat Struff – and possibly win with something in hand.

De Minaur has already been well backed to win the clash and so it may pay to back him to successfully concede a handicap start of 1.5 games to his German opponent.

In the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China, punters can consider a bet on outright selection Aryna Sabalenka against Elise Mertens, but the Belgian is a confirmed battler so caution should be the watchword.
