Top-tier tennis returns to San Diego for the first time since 2015 when several ATP Tour stars arrive in California to contest the San Diego Open.

World number five Andrey Rublev heads the market as he ramps up his preparation for next week's rescheduled Indian Wells Masters while rising Canadian stars Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov also line up.

Andy Murray, beaten in the quarter-finals in Metz a week ago, looks unlikely to be a factor come the business end of the tournament and, with Rublev short enough at 7-2 in the betting, a chance can be taken on Auger-Aliassime finally shedding the maiden tag.

The 21-year-old Quebecois, who receives a bye into round two, reached the US Open semi-finals earlier this month and is on the cusp of a place in the world's top ten - a feat made all the more impressive when you consider he hasn't yet won a title.

An eight-time losing finalist, FAA should right that wrong before too long and it could well come this week given that his likely quarter-final opponent, Poland's Hubert Hurkacz, could be jaded after reaching the final in Metz on Sunday.

There is also action from Sofia, Bulgaria, where Jannik Sinner is the number one seed, while the best of the WTA action comes from Chicago with Elina Svitolina, Garbine Muguruza and Olympic champion Belinda Bencic all in action at the Fall Tennis Classic.
