Albert Ramos-Vinolas is one match away from sealing an historic Alpine double but dual French Open runner-up Dominic Thiem is standing in his way in the Generali Open final.

Ramos-Vinolas, Swiss Open champion in Gstaad last Sunday, is bidding for a quick mountain follow-up in the Austrian Open.

The Spaniard had not been at his best in the early season, but it looks like he was saving himself for a crack at this double.

If successful in the Kitzbuhel final, he would be the first to achieve the Swiss-Austrian double since Gaston Gaudio in 2005, although in those days the events weren't staged in successive weeks as is the case this year.

Ramos-Vinolas has dropped only one set in Kitzbuhel this week but top seed Thiem, the recipient of a first-round bye, has eased into the final with three straight-sets victories, the latest being his 6-3 7-6 triumph over Lorenzo Sonego in the semis.
