Pierre-Hugues Herbert reached the last 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters last week and the improving Frenchman has an excellent chance of making the semi-finals of the ATP Hungarian Open at the expense of local wildcard Attila Balazs.

Herbert is known for his doubles prowess, completing the career Grand Slam alongside compatriot Nicolas Mahut at the Australian Open this year, but he's a capable singles player and is a worthy favourite to see off 246th-ranked Balazs.

The 28-year-old saw off Kei Nishikori in Monaco last week, recording his first clay win over a top-ten player in the process, and also beat Fernando Verdasco before finding Borna Coric too solid.

He has resumed his progress in Budapest this week, beating two inferior opponents with little trouble and should be able to sweep aside Balazs despite the crowd support for the Hungarian journeyman.

Balazs beat Hubert Hurkacz and John Millman to get to this stage but the promising Pole has won just three career matches on clay while Millman has never excelled on the surface despite making the final of this event last year.

Recommendation
P-H Herbert to win 2-0
1pt 6-4 Coral, Ladbrokes
