Betting preview

The ATP Cup has been impacted by a raft of late withdrawals, including world number one and Serbia’s chief performer Novak Djokovic, and that has delayed bookmakers in pricing up Sydney’s 16-team event.

This is the third edition of the tournament and defending champions Russia have also been weakened with Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev pulling out, leaving Roman Safiullin and Evgeny Karlovskiy to partner the classy Daniil Medvedev.

There are still plenty of stars on show with Italy featuring two top-ten performers in Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner, Canada spearheaded by Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov, while Germany have Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff in their ranks.

With the teams split into four groups of four and only the winner progressing to the semi-final, selecting a winner isn’t easy but there are some tasty round-robin matches taking place across the weekend.

The standout tie comes early on Saturday morning, with Greece’s world number four Stefanos Tsitsipas tackling Poland’s world number nine Hubert Hurkacz.

Each of their last six best-of-three-set meetings on hard terrain have gone the distance, which suggests there is little between them on this surface, so the big-serving Hurkacz, who won the latest duel in Miami in April, looks the value play at 7-4.
