Dan Evans has been advised as having a genuine title shout in the Atlanta Open, the opening event of the US Open Series, and the Birmingham ace should have too much for Jason Jung in their Atlantic Station opener.

Evans and his team, which features Tim Henman's former coach David Felgate, will be hugely excited about the forthcoming Decoturf campaign if only because the British number three is such a fine performer on North American hardcourts.

After seeing off John Isner in the semi-finals in Delray Beach in February he was pipped to the title by Radu Albot, who was playing career-best tennis at the time.

But Evans is likely to have come on a good deal since then and he could be a handful for anyone he meets in the coming months.

He opens in Georgia with a clash against Taipei's Jason Jung. The pair have met only once, earlier this year in a Challenger Tour event in Indian Wells when the Brit won 6-4 6-4.

The choice looks to be between backing Evans to win in straight sets or supporting him to successfully concede a handicap start of 3.5 games and slight preference is for a quick triumph.

If Jack Sock is back playing anywhere near his best he could trouble Miomir Kecmanovic in Atlanta, but the American's fitness has to be taken on trust and that makes betting difficult.
