Tournament preview

Pablo Carreno-Busta has been showing off his doubles skills at the ATP Cup – forming successful partnerships with Feliciano Lopez and Rafael Nadal – but can demonstrate his singles ability by delivering a strong challenge at the Adelaide International.

The Spanish player was not too overworked last week and has the opportunity to ease his way into the Adelaide event after landing in the easier top half of the draw.

Despite fourth seed status, Carreno-Busta goes off at 11-1 and looks a better value option than top seed and tournament favourite Alex De Minaur, who lost his last two matches at the ATP Cup – succumbing to Dan Evans (6-7 6-4 6-7) and Nadal (6-4 5-7 1-6).

The bottom half looks more competitive.

Talented Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime will be looking to respond after losing three of his four singles matches at the ATP Cup but the bigger danger could come from fourth seed Andrey Rublev.

If the Russian builds on his triumph at the Qatar Open, where he defeated Frenchman Corentin Moutet 6-2 7-6 in Saturday's final, he could have another successful week.

Rublev has the form in the book but is priced up accordingly at second in the betting.
