David James has been saved by the judges in the first two elimination weeks of Strictly Come Dancing, but it’s 8-15 to be third-time unlucky for the former England goalkeeper.

Anneka Rice’s hopeless attempt at a Charleston was good news for James last week but the list of celebrities who he could defeat in a dance-off is running low.

Second favourite to go this week is Mike Bushell, but while the BBC presenter lacks talent his efforts might provide enough entertainment for the public to keep him out of the dance-off.

Rather than get involved in the elimination markets, it may pay to back Dev Griffin to win the show.

The Radio 1 DJ has consistently scored well and showed enough last week to suggest he could have the timing and technical ability to stick it out to the end.

Griffin’s partner Dianne Buswell finished second last year with Joe Sugg.
