Week Two preview

After a couple of weeks faffing around things become serious on Strictly Come Dancing as the public get involved for the first time in the series to decide who gets the boot on Sunday evening.

Week One saw a decent standard from the celebs with 13 of the 15 amateur dancers scoring more than 20 points but the judges are likely to take much more of a dim view of those with two left feet from now on.

The scores from last Saturday will be combined with this week's totals and votes from the public to decide which two will compete in the first dance-off to stay in the competition, and judging by the opening exchanges it could be an early exit for Dragons Den investor, Sara Davies.

Bottom of the leaderboard from Week One, Davies has work to do to catch up with the others but her job has made even harder by having to perform a foxtrot to dreary number Dream A Little Dream of Me.

It's hard to see the public investing heavily in the dragon following the dullest of this week's routines and there appears little support for her already. Social media influencer and part-time chef, Tilly Ramsay may also find her goose is cooked.

Daughter of loudmouth chef, Gordon, Ramsay is unlikely to have much of a following among those who bother to vote and her lack of standing in the public eye and relatively unknown professional partner, Nikita Kuzmin, could also count against her.

However, the youngest performer has never had the boot in the first elimination and Ramsay gets to have a stab at the crowd-pleasing Charleston this week.

That could be enough to keep her safe for now, along with the likely desperation of the producers to get her dad in the audience at the earliest possible opportunity.

Back Davies to hotstep it out of the exit door first and also have an each-way wager on either John Whaite or Rhys Stephenson to get their hands on the Glitterball Trophy in December.

Great British Bake-Off winner turned TV presenter, Whaite, scored 30 performing a tango in his all-male pairing with super-popular professional Johannes Radebe last week, and their Week Two Cha Cha Cha could also hit the mark.

The public appear to love that pairing already and they could go a long way, as could CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson who scored well with 27 on his first time outing.

Beeb presenters have a long history of success in this competition and his Cha Cha Cha with partner Nancy Xu could also launch him into a lengthy stay on the show.

Male dancers have won five of the last six Glitterballs and that dominance may continue despite Rose Ayling-Ellis and AJ Odudu taking up two of the top three places at the head of the outright market.
