There may not be many people expecting Ali Carter to beat Judd Trump in the final of the Coral World Grand Prix and the layers certainly fall into that category by making the Ace a 1-3 shot this afternoon.

However, one man who will certainly believe he can strike gold in Cheltenham is Carter himself.

The Captain is a tough competitor who has the ability to cause Trump problems. A 6-0 cruise against Xiao Guodong in Friday night's semi-final should mean Carter is fresh for today's battle and, while it's hard to crab Trump given the fine form he has been showing, perhaps a 3.5-frame handicap is a little too much for the favourite to give up.

The Cheltenham final is a best-of-19-frame marathon and there is every chance Carter can stay within three frames of Trump.
