White good enough to make rival Fu pull out all the stops

Murphy should defeat King but looks too short to trust

Day two
ITV4, 1pm & 7pm Tuesday

Marco Fu is deemed to be the class act in his 188Bet Champion of Champions group opener against Michael White, but while the Hong Kong player could shine in Coventry he is no certainty to do so.

Fu has started the season performing below his best, but he is such a naturally good player that it would not need much to turn on the style at the Ricoh Arena.

That should be a potential concern for White, but handily for the Welshman he is no mean talent himself and has started the season more positively than his opponent.

Punters can consider backing White to upset Fu but that could easily come unstuck. Instead, it may be worth taking a chance that the outsider compiles a run of at least 71 in the best-of-seven-frames clash.

Shaun Murphy is expected to defeat Mark King in the evening rumble, but the Magician is seldom one to trust, especially at significantly short odds-on quotes.

King is perfectly capable of causing problems for Murphy if the favourite is not entirely tuned in and that may be another reason not to lump on the market leader.

However, if Murphy wants to win enough, then victory is well within his compass.

Recommendation
M White highest break over 70.5
1pt 17-20 Betway
