Semi-final preview

Ronnie O'Sullivan looked undercooked when returning from a break at Cheltenham racecourse last week, but what a difference seven days have made.

The Rocket has looked in the mood to shine in the Welsh Open and while that remark can be applied to the majority of players at or near the top of the tree in Cardiff, O'Sullivan's freshness could be key to his chance of lifting the title.

With Kyren Wilson ending the brilliant run of Neil Robertson, who was crowned champion in Austria and Cheltenham in recent weeks, O'Sullivan will face the Warrior for a place in the Cardiff final.

And while Wilson merits respect after downing Robbo 5-0, it was always likely that it would take a decent player to thwart the Australian ace.

It's best of 11 frames in the semi-finals and that extra distance should suit O'Sullivan, who compiled a break of 142 in his 5-1 quarter-final victory over Mark Selby.

The Rocket is 8-13 to successfully concede Kettering potter Wilson a start of a frame and a half and that could be worth taking.
