Preview

The betting on Sunday's Welsh Open final between Kyren Wilson and Shaun Murphy could hardly be closer and it's difficult to disagree with oddsmakers who can barely split the pair in their Cardiff title decider.

Murphy, recommended by Racing Post Sport's Aaron Ashley each-way at 18-1 before the world-ranking tournament started, is evens to nail the title while Wilson is 10-11 to follow up his 6-5 semi-final victory over Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Murphy edged out birthday boy Yan Bingtao 6-5 to progress but the Magician may need to find even more to deflect Wilson.

Murphy leads their personal series 5-2 having won their last five meetings, but with Wilson a good learner the older player will do well to keep on denying the younger man.

If anyone could run away with the final it may be Murphy, who defeated Wilson 6-3 in their longest previous match in the 2018 Players Championship.

But the Warrior is playing well enough to justify the faith the bookmakers have in him and going over 14.5 frames could be the best approach for punters.
