Preview

Mark Davis has enjoyed success against John Higgins on more than the odd occasion and given the form the south-coast ace produced in his World Open round-one victory over Matt Selt, it could pay to support the outsider.

Davis posted runs of 102, 101, 99 and 64 in thrashing Selt 5-0 and while a date with Higgins is potentially a lot tougher, punters at least know the St Leonard's potter is in good touch among the balls.

Higgins' career record speaks for itself but the Scot still has his favourite events and the player who has been runner-up in the last three Crucible finals may not yet be in top gear for the season.

Davis gets a handicap pull of 2.5 frames from some oddsmakers and an interest at that mark could be worthwhile.

Jimmy Robertson is not without a chance of progressing against Stuart Bingham in another 11.30am starter, but the Essex cueman is playing pretty well himself.
