Ian Burns to beat Craig Steadman in World Open first round
1pt 6-5 Coral, Ladbrokes

Preview

It's the opening day's play in the World Open in China and there could be value in a match featuring a couple of players deemed to be lesser lights.

Possibly due to his higher rank, Craig Steadman is favourite to beat Ian Burns in a clash of two experienced cuemen.

Steadman, an admirable grafter, is 75th on the latest chart while Burns is down at 127th after struggling in recent seasons.

However, Preston potter Burns is arguably a better player than Steadman and has a big chance to prove that.

The prices suggest the oddsmakers are aware this one may not go the way of the market leader and Burns, at 34 the younger man, may still be good enough to pick up a decent career title one day at big odds.

Matthew Stevens has been punted to win his early clash with Anthony McGill, although the Welshman has a bit to find in terms of recent form.
