Final preview

After two weeks of top-class action at the Crucible, just two men remain in this year's £500,000 Betfred World Championship with favourite Mark Selby strongly fancied to bag a fourth title.

The Jester from Leicester leads opponent Shaun Murphy in head-to-head meetings and boasts an incredible record in ranking event finals.

Aside from Selby's defeat in the quirky and time-restricted Shoot Out final in February, he has not lost a ranking event final since losing 10-7 to Neil Robertson in the 2013 UK Championship.

Murphy was sensational in his semi-final against Kyren Wilson and has has clearly bounced back to form after a number of below-par seasons.

The Magician won the world title as a qualifier back in 2005 and has been beaten in two finals since, but has surprisingly picked up only nine ranking event titles in his career.

He is a tremendous long potter and a brilliant break-builder who has been deadly among the balls this week after carving out opportunities from long range.

However, Selby is a unique opponent. The Leicester cueman is made of stern stuff and isn't afraid to dig deep and grind out frames by any means necessary.

Win or lose Selby will return to number two in the world rankings and perhaps doesn't get the recognition he deserves, but he is a triple world champion who is renowned for his unflappable temperament and hardened match play.

Those attributes will ultimately prove the difference here and although Murphy will throw everything at him, it's Selby's guile and tactical nous that will ultimately see him through for a fourth Crucible crown.
