Starts 11am UK and Ireland time Wednesday

John Higgins says the only thing he needs to work on before the Betfred World Championship is his fitness and bookmakers matched the Scot's confidence by making him favourite for the inaugural Romanian Masters.

However, while Higgins's Bucharest claims should be fully respected by punters, it may pay not to ignore the claims of world number one Mark Selby.

Selby, who is looking to tighten up his game in the run-up to next month's Crucible marathon, is on offer at a generous-looking odds in Romania in a half of the draw in which only he and Mark Williams have single-figure rankings.

After an opener against Liang Wenbo, Selby could meet Neil Robertson or Stuart Bingham, then possibly Williams or Stephen Maguire in the semis. He should be capable of coming through those tests if he's in decent form.

Robertson could prove a doughty rival, but even the Australian has struggled with consistency this season.

Higgins could boss the bottom half, but with a possible semi in store against Judd Trump or Kyren Wilson the Wizard of Wishaw is no certainty to add to his Welsh Open crown.

Recommendation
M Selby to win title
2pts 6-1 Betfred, Coral, Ladbrokes
