Mark Selby is 7-2 favourite with tournament sponsors Betfred to make it four wins in five years at the Crucible following his 18-15 World Championship final victory over John Higgins on Sunday night.

Judd Trump, who blew out in round one of this year’s Sheffield marathon, and Ronnie O’Sullivan are the players who bookmakers believe are likeliest to end Selby’s dominance, while Higgins is 14-1 to go one better next year and add to his four Sheffield titles.

Selby was a popular order at 9-2 before this year’s tournament.

Ding Junhui is expected to keep on learning and is 10-1 to land a first world title for China.

Stephen Maguire, this year’s most successful qualifier who reached the quarter-finals, is 66-1 to rule the world next season.

Of the other Chinese players, Liang Wenbo is 80-1, Yan Bingtao is 150-1, Xiao Guodong is 200-1, Zhao Xintong is 250-1 and Zhou Yuelong is 275-1.
