Tournament preview

It's 10-1 bar three in the Scottish Open with Judd Trump, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson expected by the oddsmakers to get their all-star show back on track in the Scottish Open, the event that marks the halfway point in the season.

Ding Junhui and Stephen Maguire, who had become blasts from the past until their runs to the final of the Betway UK Championship last week, will need to work wonders to repeat their heroics north of the border so it's no surprise to see Trump and O'Sullivan heading the title market.

That pair are in the same half of the draw, however, and that makes both aces difficult to back at the outset.

Robertson, the clear third favourite, could make it two Glasgow titles in three years but the Australian may still be basking in the joy of his Champion of Champions triumph early last month when he defeated O'Sullivan and Trump on the way to taking the Coventry crown.

Mark Allen, the defending champion this week, is playing well but was knocked for six by Maguire in York and may now be looking out for the next sucker punch.

Barry Hawkins was in maximum mood as he posted a 147 break in the UK, but the Londoner is seldom a reliable outright option for punters.

With John Higgins possibly facing some tough tests in his homeland, an interest on Kyren Wilson, who is rarely out of the headlines for long, could be prudent.

The top half of the draw looks likely to take less winning and the Warrior is good enough to trouble Robertson and Allen on his day.

Luca Brecel and Martin Gould, who meet in the last 128 on day one, have both been struggling. But Brecel may not be in quite such a bad place as Gould and the Belgian could offer a spot of value to progress.
