Match preview

Ronnie O’Sullivan dropped just three frames in his first two matches at the Champion of Champions, and now faces the surprise package of the tournament, Fan Zhengyi, in the semi-final.

The Rocket, Racing Post Sport’s 4-1 antepost selection, overcame Robert Milkins 4-2 in his opener before breezing past Zhao Xintong 6-1 in his quarter-final.

Now he faces Fan, who produced the upset of the tournament when dumping out world number two Neil Robertson in the first round before edging past Ryan Day 6-5 to reach the last four.

This pair have met just once before, in the final of February’s European Masters, where the 21-year-old came out on top 10-9 in a dramatic finish.

Both men racked up two century breaks each in their quarter-final victories and it may be worth siding with them to combine for three or more in what should be an intriguing clash between the seven-time World Champion and one of the sport’s brightest young stars.
