Resurgent Milkins has the bottle to pot his way past Dott

Robert Milkins has seen his ranking slip in the last few months but there were signs in this month’s English Open that a revival may not be far off and at 6-5 the Milkman can deliver when he faces Graeme Dott in the International Championship first round.

Milkins beat Stephen Maguire 4-0 in the opening round in Barnsley and went on to defeat Ashley Hughill 4-2 in the second round.

John Higgins put pay to the Gloucester potter’s chances of winning the English Open at the last-32 stage but it was a narrow 4-3 defeat in a match that Milkins should have won.

You only have to go back to February to find the Milkman making the semi-finals of the Welsh Open and that sort of performance proves his ability and desire.

Dott retains plenty of talent but is an inconsistent performer these days and the Scot was brushed aside 4-1 by Chuan Leong Thor in the first round of the English Open a couple of weeks ago.

Milkins is rated a 6-5 shot and at that price punters should bet on Rob doing the job.
