Day one final
ITV4, 7pm

Ryan Day delivered a solid performance to deny Barry Hawkins in 188Bet Champion of Champions Group One this afternoon and the Welshman looks in pole position to reach the Coventry semi-finals this evening.

Hamilton claimed his best win for some time when defeating Ding Junhui 4-2 with the aid of runs of 48, 54, 46 and 75, but the Chinese number one was found wanting in the International Championship so the form may be questionable.

Aside from a break of 84 in frame four, Ding's next-best contribution was a paltry 31.

Day posted breaks of 103, 110, 79 and 71 in dismissing Hawkins 4-2 and given that Hamilton has not been in the best of health of late, the favourite should progress to the last four.

Day has been well backed to defeat Hamilton in this best-of-11-frames match and the initial value has been snapped up. But 8-15 about Day making the highest break in the night's action is difficult to quibble with.

R Day to make highest break v A Hamilton
