Positive Brecel capable of posing problems for Fu

They are down to the last 32 in the China Championship and it would not be a surprise to see Luca Brecel make life tough for Marco Fu in Guangzhou on Friday.

Brecel should have beaten the Hong Kong ace in the first round of the Betfred World Championship in April but let slip a lead of 7-2 and lost 10-9.

Fu played some stunningly good snooker last season, but he was fortunate to progress at the Crucible that day and he may have to toil again in his bid to deny the Belgian.

Brecel's game looked in good order in his 5-2 victory over Jimmy Robertson on Thursday, while Fu had to fight back from 3-2 down to see off Hossein Vafaei 5-3.

Brecel's highest breaks against Robertson were just 60 and 51, but his positive style means he is often competitive against Fu, who sometimes waits for his opponent to err before striking.

Brecel is quoted at 8-15 with a start of 2.5 frames and with a potentially close encounter in store, that looks worth having.
