Improving Cao to make Trump work hard for final berth

Judd Trump is a hot favourite to reach the final of the European Masters with a victory over Cao Yupeng in Belgium on Saturday, but the Chinese ace may not go down without a fight.

Cao was a 500-1 shot before the tournament started, but the smooth-cueing youngster has belied such odds by seeing off Noppon Saengkham, Ken Doherty, Billy Joe Castle and Mark Williams.

Experienced Welshman Williams has been performing consistently well this season but still could not prevent Cao storming to a 4-2 triumph.

Trump has hit a decent patch of form in Limburg and has ousted Chris Totten, Adam Duffy, Martin O'Donnell, David Gilbert and Mark Allen to progress to the last four.

The Bristolian had to watch as Allen fought back from 3-0 down to level but stayed strong to progress.

It's best of 11 frames now and backing Cao with a start of 3.5 could be the way to go.
