Kyren Wilson is chasing a rare German double following his success at the Paul Hunter Classic earlier in the campaign, but he may not have things all his own way in his German Masters final showdown against David Gilbert.

Wilson has been clinical in Berlin this week and is understandably a short-priced favourite to taste more success in the region following his Tempodrom thrashings of Mark Williams (5-0) and Stephen Maguire (6-1).

But despite his emphatic scorelines, the Warrior has been seeing off his opponents with solid matchplay rather than big breaks and Gilbert could provide a different test.

Despite winning 21 frames in Berlin this week, Wilson has made just one century. His highest break in his quarter-final whitewash over defending champion Williams was 81, with his 67 in the opening frame against Maguire the biggest break in his semi-final.

Gilbert made a century in each of his wins over Mark Selby (5-4), Neil Robertson (5-3) and surprise semi-finalist Duane Jones (6-1) and 6-4 for him to construct the highest break may underestimate his chances.

The Angry Farmer has failed to win a ranking title despite reaching two finals. The latest was a 10-9 defeat against world champion Williams in the World Open in August last year after he led 9-5.

That loss would have hurt Gilbert but he will have learned plenty from it and, with the pressure on Wilson to deliver as the higher-ranked player, he can make his presence felt.

Gilbert can outscore the Warrior, but there’s unlikely to be a barrage of big breaks with tensions high. Bet365 go 4-7 about under 2.5 centuries and that’s worth taking.

Recommendation
D Gilbert highest break
1pt 6-4 bet365, Betfred, Sky Bet
Under 2.5 centuries
2pts 4-7 bet365
