The oddsmakers are struggling to separate Andrew Higginson and Si Jiahui in their Scottish Open second-round clash but the Chinese youngster could be worth a bet.

Both players posted 4-1 wins in their Glasgow openers - Higginson over Lyu Haotian and Si against Brandon Sargeant.

But while 2007 Welsh Open finalist Higginson still has it in him to one day pinch a main-tour crown, the Lancastrian needed a lot more visits to the table against Lyu than Si did versus Sargeant.

Si, who upset Stuart Bingham in the English Open in October, looks one of the most promising of the young Chinese army of potters.

The 17-year-old made runs of 68, 43, 73 and 45 in his opener and that level of scoring could be enough to silence Higginson.
